Project Name: Middlesex
Private School Location: Concord, MA
In 1901, Frederick Winsor
opened his school in Concord. Middlesex
was to be different from the other academies
and "church schools" of
the day. Mr. Winsor wanted his school to
be non-denominational, where students from
different religious backgrounds could learn
together. From the very beginning, his
mission was "to find the promise that
lies hidden" in every student.
The design for Middlesex's campus was created
by the sons of Frederick Law Olmsted, the
greatest landscape architect of the 19th
century and the designer of New York's
Central Park, Boston's Emerald Necklace
and Stanford University. The architect
for the main buildings was the noted Boston
firm of Peabody & Stearns, and much
of the campus that seems so familiar today
was built largely by 1925.
With ongoing
renovations and new construction at Middlesex
School, Glynn Electric's on-site project team
is always busy. The Glynn Electric Team constantly
communicates with project engineers to coordinate
design and budget.
Work completion on the Elizabeth Atkins Athletic
Center, a state-of-the-art facility. including
a new wing for indoor tennis courts and ice
hockey. Indirect lighting was installed in
the arena as well as electrical installations
in
the new locker room area.
The Clay Centennial Center is a new 28,000
square foot science and math center including
an octagonal wing which houses a domed observatory
and telescope. Glynn Electric also completed
installations in the building's multiple science
labs, including environmental, physics and
biology, and wired and networked the computer
labs.
Work on the historic Memorial Chapel in Lambert
Hall included installation of recessed lighting,
rewiring of wall mountings and complete electrical
renovation and addition.
Glynn
Electric's project management team has been
able to provide just the right menu of services
to meet the unique needs of an historic institution
that also walks the cutting edge.
